ALOYSIUS "ALVIS" OBERMAN, FORMER GRANDVILLE RESIDENT, DIES

Alvis Oberman, 77, formerly of Granville, Iowa, died Monday, July 24 at the Casa de Paz nursing home in Sioux City.

Services were held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa. The Reverend Richard Birdsall officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Granville.

Mr. Oberman was born August 3, 1899 to Joseph and Mary (Schemmel) Oberman at Granville. He married Grace Schwartz on April 5, 1921, at Granville. He was a mechanic for the former Goergen Implement Company of Granville. In 1954 he moved to Sioux City where he was a mechanic for Mahoney Ford Company and later worked for the Gordon Twin Drive-In Theater and Ferris Florists.

Survivors include the widow: daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Grace) Thill of Remsen, Mrs. Richard (Lavonne) Singer of Lawndale; California, Mrs. Doyle (Darlene) Stanton, of Windom, Minnesota, and Mrs. Charles (Audrey) Wendling, of Worthington, Minnesota, 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Rose Kuhl, Long Beach, California, Mrs. Loretta Mulder, of Sheldon, Mrs. John (Leifa) Van Gronigen, of Alton and Miss Munda Oberman, of Sioux City.
