Jemma De Jong, 6-month-old daughter of Todd and Sarah (Kooima) De Jong of Hull, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at the Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley.

There will be a funeral service on Saturday, August 25, at 1:30pm, at the Hope Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Todd Zuidema will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Friday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the CHURCH.

Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Jemma Jean was born on January 30, 2018, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She was welcomed by her parents, Todd Matthew and Sarah Faith (Kooima) De Jong, and two sisters, Estella, age 4, and Kordelia, age 15. Together they enjoyed spending time as a family, both at home and on outings, such as going to parades, the swimming pool, shopping, and her sisters’ activities. Jemma liked playing with her sisters, going for walks, and watching her puppies play.

Her family attended the Hope Christian Reformed Church, and due to her heart condition, she and her family were involved with Beads of Courage and Little Mended Hearts.

She is survived by her parents; two sisters, Estella Ann De Jong, and Kordelia Rose Sandbulte-De Jong; paternal grandfather, Gerb De Jong; maternal grandparents, Dave and Diana Kooima; special aunt, Kathy Vermeer; six uncles, Travis Kooima, and his wife, Megan, and their sons, Grayson and Ezekiel; Ethan Kooima, and his wife, Brittany; Tyson Kooima, and his girlfriend, Kelsey Smit; Grant De Jong, and his wife, Sarah, and their children, Cheyenne, Jayden, Ronin, Griffin, and Gavin; Matthew De Jong, and his wife, Sarah; and Thomas De Jong; an aunt, Laura, and her husband, BJ Franke; and two puppies, Ozzie and Toby.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Barbara (Vermeer) De Jong; and great-grandparents, Frank and Esther Vermeer, Art and Theresa Kooima, Tom and Martha De Jong, and Gene and Winifred Haarsma.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
