Mrs. Paul Mouw Dies Suddenly--Victim of Heart Attack Thursday

Mrs. Paul Mouw died suddenly at 3 o'clock last Thursday afternoon at her home in Orange City. Apparently well, she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage shortly after dinner from which she failed to rally.

Mrs. Mouw (nee Dena Harmelink) was born June 22, 1892, to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Harmelink (now deceased) who then lived on a farm northwest of Newkirk.

She grew to womanhood in that vicinity and on March 3, 1916 she was married to Paul Mouw of Middleburg. The couple moved to a farm near Middleburg where they continued for nine years before they moved to Orange City.

Mrs. Mouw had been a Sunday school teacher for 35 years here and in Middleburg. She was a faithful member of mission societies and participated in other church activities.

Survivors are her husband and one daughter, Daisy Mouw Bloemendaal and husband Kenneth Bloemendaal and their children, Vicky and Randy of Hartley. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters: John Harmelink of Newkirk; (Gertrude) Mrs. Gt. Van Stryland of Orange City; (Minnie) Mrs. Guy Van Zyl of Sheldon; Josie Harmelink of Orange City and Reverend Herman Harmelink of Chatham, Ontario, Canada.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister; Fanny Harmelink Hofmeyer who passed away in 1937.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Mouw home and in the First Reformed Church with the Reverend Henry Colenbrander officiating. Pallbearers were her brothers John and Herman, and the brothers-in-law: Gt Van Stryland, Guy Van Zyl, John Mouw and Jacob Hofmeyer. Interment was made in the Orange City Cemetery with Van Etten Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
