FRANK MORRIS DROWNS Sunday IN LAKE COTTONWOOD WHILE ON VACATION

Sioux County friends of Frank Morris, former Ireton man, were shocked to learn of his death from drowning while on a vacation trip, says the Sioux City Journal of Monday, August 16.

Frank F. Morris, 65, 3916 Orleans Avenue, sales manager of the Hall Monument Company, drowned when the craft capsized Sunday afternoon while boating on Lake Cottonwood, near Radfield, South Dakota while he was vacationing.

It was reported, Mr. Morris was riding in a boat equipped with an outboard motor when the craft capsized. Other details of the accident were not available immediately.

Mr. and Mrs. Morris were visiting her sister and husband, Mrs. Grant Langle of Redfield..

Mr. Morris was born November 6, 1883, at Ireton. He married Elsie Carpenter at Ireton September 7, 1910.

He was associated with the Bank of Northwestern Iowa at Ireton until 1925 when he moved to Sioux City as general agent for the Banker’s Life Insurance Company of Des Moines. Later he was superintendent of Graceland Park Cemetery. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Grace Methodist Church.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three brothers.

The body will arrive here early Tuesday and be taken to the W. Harry Christy Funeral home in Morningside.
