Creston Hoekstra, age 87, of Sheldon, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be Friday, June 15, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Kevin Muyskens officiating.

Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 14, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Creston Henry Hoekstra was born on March 14, 1931 in Sheldon, Iowa. He was the son of Dan and Gertrude (Lobbes) Hoekstra. He lived his youth on a farm near Sheldon and attended the Sheldon Christian Grade School. Creston served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954 and was honorably discharged.
He was united in marriage to Lucille Van Marel of Orange City, Iowa on February 24, 1956. They lived and farmed south of Sheldon. In 1994, they retired and moved to town. Lucille passed away on December 12, 2017.
He was a charter member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon. He was a member of the Unity Christian High School board. Creston and Lucille enjoyed evenings of foot fellowship and volunteering for many years on work trips with Justice for All, from Tampa, Florida to Fargo, North Dakota.
Creston enjoyed coffee time with friends and going to auctions. He was a devoted husband and father.
He passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Sioux Center Health in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Those left to cherish his memories are his six children and their spouses, Lila (Gayrey) Whitfield of Remsen, IA, Twila (Harlan) Oolman of Orange City, IA, Darrell (Cheryl) Hoekstra of Alton, IA, Kevin (Sandy) Hoekstra of Sioux Center, IA, Lyle (Teresa) Hoekstra of Sheldon, IA, Karla (Henry) Byl of Sioux Center, IA; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Martin Hoekstra; 3 sisters, Annette (Harvard) Sneller, Theora (Roger) Whitman, Shirley (Dorward) Dykstra; 2 brothers-in-law, Carl (Susie) Van Marel, William Jr.(Kathy) Van Marel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Anthony Hoekstra and Erica Hoekstra; sister-in-law, Clara Hoekstra.
