Last week the people of this community were surprised to learn that Miss Clara Schlechte, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schlechte, was gradually sinking toward death's door, and when the end came on Friday evening, expressions of profound sorrow were heard on every hand. The deceased was born near Granville and was at the time of her demise twenty-two years, eight months and three days old. She will be missed in the community and especially by her parents, near relatives and friends. She led a quiet unassuming life. Her love of home was a beautiful characteristic of her life. She is survived by her parents, two sisters Mrs. Ed Schnaes of Marcus, and Miss Anna Schlechte, and two brothers, Joseph and Edward, at home. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church Tuesday morning, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Father Gerleman, in the presence of many sorrowing and sympathizing friends. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to friends and relatives in the bereavement. Rlatives that attended from out of town were Clem Schlechte of Wilmont, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Schlechte and Adelaid Schlechte of Dyersville, Mrs. Anton Roling and Mrs. Henry Roling of Vienna, Ia. The pallbearers were Miss Clara Bunkers, Miss Lucy Gasper, Miss Julia Schilmoeller, Miss Antonia Wiltgen, Miss Justina Lechtenberg and Miss Margaret Gloden.
