A Good Woman Gone
Mrs. W. W. Hall Dies at Champaign IL.
Had been a Resident of Hawarden Many years and was esteemed by everyone.

Sarah Louisa Stewart was born near Libertyville, Lake county IL, March 16, 1850. She lived there and at Taylorville, IL, until her marriage to W. W. Hall, May 28, 1874, and continued to reside at Taylorville until 1882 when the family removed to Waukegan IL. In 1885 she came with the family to Hawarden and has made this her home since that time. During the past three years much of her time has been spent in the South in the hope of improving her failing health.

Her death occurred Nov. 11, 1910, at Champaign, IL, while on a visit with the family of her son. She had suffered for a number of years from chronic bronchorrhea, and end being hastened by an attack of la grippe. She has always maintained church membership wherever she has resided, and has been a member of the Congregational church of Hawarden since its reorganization in 1886. Her life has been that of a true Christian, a patient sufferer, a loving, devoted wife and mother. She took a prominent part in the ladie’s society which so effectively reorganized and improved the cemetery.

Besides the sorrowing husband she leaves three children to mourn her death. They are Louis D. Hall, Champaign, IL., Stewart E. Hall, Sioux City, and Mrs. Avis Mary Wade, Las Cruces, N. Mex. One daughter, Fanny Hall, died in 1891. Three sisters also mourn her passing away. They are Miss E. G. Stewart and Mrs. S. A. Low, Chicago, and Mrs. F. W. Warner, Williamsburg, Va.

Such is a brief sketch of the life of Mrs. W. W. Hall. But to those who knew her intimately she was much ore than is indicated by these few sentences. She was warm hearted, pure in thought, and always sympathizing with and feeling keenly the suffering of those in less favored circumstances. While her strength would permit, many kind deeds were performed by her hand for the poor and unfortunate in this city and many will remember her sympathetic ministrations at unexpected times and places. And this without ostentation or hope of reward other than to "do unto others as you would that they should do unto you." At the hospital the doctors and nurses spoke of her as the sweetest spirited patient that had come under their care. Thus she passed away as she had lived. The remains were brought to Hawarden for interment and the funeral was held from the Congregational church in this city Monday afternoon.
