Jennison/Jemeson, William G. born 1805? died 12 Jan 1888 (possibly at Craig IA) at 83 years buried in Union Hill cemetery Washington Township Sioux County IA. His death record comes from the WPA index and the Sioux county cemetery headstone photos.

Cemetery is located in Washington Township section 36 about mid way on east side road.
Cemetery is small with about two dozen stones. Cemetery has been severely vandalized and is quite unkept. William’s stone was lying flat on the ground when photographed.

The Ireton history book in an article on the Union Hill Dunkard Baptist church states the cemetery had a stone with the name Jemisson on page 48.

In the 1885 census of Plymouth County Preston Township is the entry for William Jennison 76 year old, born in (England)??. There were other Jennisons in that census Living in Pleasant Tsp Plymouth County including Charles P. 58 NY , wife Deborah 54 NY, with family members, Joseph Jenison 63 born NY , M. C. (male) 59 born IN living in Franklin Township Ply. Co. IA. John C. Jenison 51 IN living in Franklin Tsp Ply Co. IA., plus various family members. Surely there is a family connection. Also Joseph Jenison 1821 NY and Alvina, Chas. Jenison 1852 born IN with wife Kate, William Jenneson 1853 OH, wife Amanda, but upon researching the connection to Wm. Buried in Union Hill cemetery Sioux County is evasive.

There are strong indications the families Jennison and Jenison had ties to Wright County IA before and after living a short time in Plymouth and Sioux County IA. In the 1880 census there was a William 63 years widower with Elias Platte 25, Ada 21, Della 14 and Jasper 11. Also a John Jennison 36 with wife E. J. Indications are that this William died in 1884 Wright Co. IA.

Note: No further record of the exact identity or connection to other Jennisons in the 1885 census of Plymouth county IA, of William could be readily found. There may be a problem finding connecting records with the spelling of his surname – Jemisson, Jemeson, Jenison etc.
