Mr. Martin T. Moeller, the son of Jacob and Christina (Thomsen) Moeller, was born June 10, 1890 in Plato Township, Sioux County, Iowa. He attended Plato Township School and Mankato Business College.

He was united in marriage with Katie Houwers of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin on February 5, 1913 at Sheboygan Falls. Their married life was lived on a farm in Plato Township, moving to Sioux Center in 1934.

Mr. Moeller passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 1981 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital at the age of 91 years, one month and 11 days.

He is survived by his widow, Katie and three daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Ed Vander Ploeg) of Oceanside, California; Margaret (Mrs. Wilbur Maris) of La Habra, California; Lois (Mrs. George Martin De Ruyter) of La Habra, California; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles of Sioux Center; and two sisters, Addie Klein of Rock Rapids, Iowa and Rose Winterfeld of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Alta Christine in infancy; a son, Jacob I. Moeller in 1977; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.

Mr. Moeller was active in community affairs. He was President of the Sioux Center Farmers Coop Society Board and President of the Sioux Center Coop Creamery Association Board. He was also a board member of the Sioux Center Coop Gas and Oil Company, board member of the Sioux Center Cooperative Burial Association, board member of the Sioux Center Community School and board member of IMT Insurance Company of Des Moines. Mr. Moeller was a member of the Sioux Center Volunteer Fire Department and Secretary-Treasurer of the German Farmers Mutual Insurance Association of Sioux Center from 1933-1953.
