From the Sioux County Index (Hull), May 8, 1931:

Henry Schuett, Sr., Died Sunday, At Son’s Home

Henry Schuett, Sr., died Sunday afternoon following only a few days illness of pneumonia in the home of his son Herman, near Hull. Mr. Schuett had been very active up until his last illness and his death was a severe blow to the relatives and near friends.

Mr. Schuett had reached the ripe old age of eighty-three years, seven months and nineteen days, was a kindly old gentleman and loved by all who knew him. His wife died several years ago, while they were living in Hull. Surviving him are four children: Henry Schuett of Doon; Herman J. Schuett of Hull; Mrs. Lizzie Schmidt of Elkton, South Dakota; and Anna Sohl of Hull. There are also thirteen grandchildren.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the German Lutheran church north-east of Hull, conducted by Rev. Goeringer and interment was made in the cemetery nearby. The entire community sympathizes with the bereaved relatives.

RESEARCH NOTES

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Schuett, A. Henry, b. 1847, d. 1931, father, St. Pauls Luth Cem Hull IA.

His death certificate has Henry O. Schuett; widower of Rebecca Schuett; born September 17, 1847 in Germany; parents Henry Schuett and Marie Schroeder; in the U.S. 51 years, 6 months; occupation, farmer, last worked at this occupation in 1912; died at 3:50 p.m. May 3, 1931; cause, myocarditis, date of onset 4-20-31; buried at Hull. The certificate is confused as to where he died: it says Lyon County, Garfield Township, Hull [Hull is in Lincoln Township, Sioux County].

He appears in census records and in marriage records for his children as Heinrich or Henry Schuett, and his wife as Anna Rebecca (or variants) Winter. However, he appears as the informant on his wife’s death certificate as Aron Henry Schuett.

Some of the Evangelical Lutheran Church registers for the parishes in Boyden (St. John) and Hull (St Paul) on Ancestry.com show him as Ahrend Heinrich Schuett. His death register entry has him as Heinrich Schuett, cause of death inflammation of bowels.
