From the Sioux County Index (Hull), January 11, 1929:

OBITUARY

Rebecka Schuett, nee Winter, was born on the 10th of September, 1850, at Codenberge, duit Nelehaus 9-oste. On the 27th day of February, 1876, she was married to Mr. Henry Schuett. Since in their home country they had, in return for their labor, scarcely the necessities of life, they decided to go to a country that offered them a good chance to possess their own home. So in 1880 they came to America, choosing the vicinity of Hull as their home. In 1882 they bought their farm on which they lived and worked for nearly 30 years. In 1914 they retired from farming and lived for 2 years in Sheldon, Iowa. In 1917 they came to Hull where they resided until her death.

For about 35 years Mrs. Schuett’s health was failing. As a consequence, she stayed constantly at home, scarcely ever going outside of the house, and as a further consequence of failing strength, she had no chance to live when after an attack of the flu, pneumonia set in. On the morning of the 30th of December, she departed from this life. On the previous day she had prepared to meet her God by confession and by partaking of the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. Her age was 78 years, 3 months and 20 days.

She is mourned by her husband, four children: Hinrich, Herman, Lizzie and Anna, and by 12 grandchildren. Interment was made in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery on the 2nd of January, 1929.

The Sioux County Cemetery Index has Schuett, A. Rebecka, b. 1850, d. 1928, mother, St Pauls Luth Cem Hull IA.

Her death certificate has Becka Schuett, born 10 September 1850 in Konbaria, Germany; father Henry Winter, mother not known to the informant, Aron Henry Schuett; died at 6 a.m. December 30, 1928; cause, lobar pneumonia, duration 5 days; contributory cause, flu. No indication as to what her underlying health problem was.

The 1925 Iowa state census has Henry Schuett (77) and wife Anne R. Schuett (74), both born in Germany, both residents of the U.S. and Iowa for 44 years. Her parents: Henry Winter and Anna Offerman. His parents: Henry Schuett and Maria Schreuder.
