Funeral services for John R. McCabe, who died at the age of 52 in a Sioux City Hospital Sunday, were held at 8 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Mary's Church in Hawarden with Father Leander Friedman officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rosary was recited Tuesday night at the Barnard Funeral Home.

Mr. McCabe was born March 8, 1904, in Savannah, Illinois, and came to Hawarden with his parents when he was 6 years old.

A few years after graduating from high school here he was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad in Chicago and later was transferred to Los Angeles. After 25 years of service and due to failing health he returned to Hawarden in 1948. He never married.

Mr. McCabe was a member of St. Mary's Church of Hawarden and the Knights of Columbus

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Nick McCabe of Hawarden and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Valett of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas.
