Kenny Poppema, age 45, of LeMars, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 at his home in LeMars.

Funeral Services will be Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Rev. Luke Wynja officiating.

Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation will be Monday, April 9, prior to the Funeral Service, from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon.

Kenny Poppema was born on July 27, 1972 in Hartley, Iowa. He is the son of Robert and Mavis (Uittenbogaard) Poppema. He lived his youth in Sheldon, Iowa, and attended Sheldon Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa.
Kenny owned and operated an excavating business for a number of years. He moved to Houston, Texas where he worked for an excavating contractor. He later moved to LeMars, Iowa and worked for Vander Pol Excavating, to the present. His life was centered around work and family.
Kenny was a baptized member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon.
He passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018 at his home in LeMars, Iowa.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Joseph Poppema of Sioux City, IA, Jasmine Mouw of George, IA, Alexander Poppema of Jacksonville, FL, and Amanda Poppema of Portland, OR; 3 grandchildren; his parents, Robert and Mavis Poppema of Sheldon, IA; 3 brothers, Dan (Kathy) Poppema of Sheldon, IA, Mike (Katy) Poppema of Remsen, IA, Pat (Rhonda) DeGroot of Tea, SD; 3 sisters, Natalie (Joel) Van Ginkel of Hull, IA, Leah (Dan) Heiliger of Archer, IA, Melanie Davis of Woodlawn, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and special friend, Tammi Van Noort.
