Mrs. Donna Kleinhesselink, age 83, of Orange City, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon.

There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, April 11, at 10:30am, at the American Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Elizabeth Hardeman and the Rev. Michael Hardeman will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Donna Fae was born on January 29, 1935, in Maurice, to Jacob and Mattie (Peelen) Brink. She grew up in Maurice and graduated from the Maurice Public School in 1953.

On April 3, 1956, she was united in marriage to George William Kleinhesselink at the First Reformed Church in Maurice. The couple made their home in Orange City, where Donna first worked at the Sunrise Hatchery candling eggs. She then worked as a waitress and cook at the American Legion Bowling Alley in Orange City for 32 years. Later in life, she was employed at the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. In June of 2016, George and Donna became residents of the Landsmeer Ridge Retirement Community in Orange City, and in January of 2017, Donna moved to Fieldcrest Assisted Living.

Mrs. Kleinhesselink was a member of the American Reformed Church, where she took an active role in the women’s ministries, coordinating funeral lunches and drivers for shut-ins. She was also involved in the Pressman-Kosters American Legion Auxiliary and the Saber Saddle Club, and she volunteered at the Heritage House Nursing Home, all in Orange City.

She spent many hours doing handwork and crafts, gardening, and baking for her family and others. She enjoyed going to craft shows, horseback riding, and camping, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her husband of more then 62 years; four children, Scott Kleinhesselink, of Lake George, Colorado; Roxanne, and her husband, Roy Hawkins, of Orange City; Corey Kleinhesselink, and his wife, Emily, of Sioux Center; and Lynora, and her husband, Timothy Gehrke, of Larrabee; eight grandsons, Ryan, Devin, and Thad Hawkins; Paden and Miles Kleinhesselink; and Jacob and Eric Van Voorst and Grayson Roosa; eleven great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Wayne and Crystal Brink, of Maurice; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Jay Brink.
