RESIDENT HERE FOR 40 YEARS --DIES WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Marie McBride,79, died shortly before 2 o’clock Wednesday morning at the Hawarden Hospital following a heart attack.

Mrs. McBride lived alone and got about the house in a chair on rollers. The past week she had been unusually feeble and her neighbors called frequently to render aid. Mrs. P.L. Thompson was there about 6 o’clock in the evening and she wheeled her out into the kitchen. Shortly before 9 o’clock, Mrs. Chas. Fleming called and found Mrs. McBride on the floor unconscious. She was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. She did not regain consciousness.

She was born at Oslo, Norway, and when she came to America she first lived at Waterloo. She came to Hawarden about 40 years ago and was married to James Walter McBride of Hawarden January 21, 1915, at Waterloo. Mr. McBride died June 4, 1946.

Before Mr. McBride’s death he and his wife spent the winters in Florida and she continued to do so until the past winter. Her health was too poor for her to make the trip to Florida last year.

She is survived by a brother, Pete Thommensen of Waterloo and a number of nieces and Nephews, some of whom live in Norway.
