From the Rock Valley Bee, January 4, 1929:

DEATH OF MRS. GEORGE GRIFFIN

Mrs. George Griffin was born in the vicinity of Rock Valley, Iowa, August 19, 1875, and departed this life at her home in Rock Valley December 29, 1928 and at the time of her demise was 53 years, 4 months, and 10 days of age.

Ella May Henderson was married to George Griffin, Nov. 11, 1894, and to this union eight children were born, two of which preceded her in death. The deceased is a product and pioneer of Sioux county, and endured the hardships of privation incident to pioneer life. She lived a quiet, unassuming life, and enjoyed the confidence and respect of her most intimate associates. She will be keenly missed in the home, by her family to whom she was lovingly and tenderly devoted.

She leaves a husband; four sons, Orville, Harry, Roy and Lawrence; and two daughters, Mrs. Goldie Smith of Madison, Kansas, and Mrs. Violet Miller of Sheldon, Iowa. Also five brothers, namely: Harry L. Henderson, Clifford Henderson of El Dorado, Kansas, John Henderson of Greely, Colorado, A. B. Henderson, Maud, Oklahoma, Dick Henderson [city blotted out], Missouri, and one sister, Mrs. J. C. McCord, Cleburn, Texas to mourn her passing.

Funeral services occurred at the Methodist church Tuesday morning at ten A.M. conducted by Rev. Lyman Focht. Interment in Valley View Cemetery.

She does not appear in the Sioux County Cemetery Index.

Her death certificate adds her parents, Henry Henderson and Mary Jane [no surname], both born in the United States; died at 3 p.m. December 29; cause, heart failure, contributory cause, flu, duration 6 days.
