Klumpert, Derk J. died 26 Sep 1906 Hospers IA buried in Presb. Cemetery Hospers IA. He was a divorced farmer in 1880 census of Floyd, Sioux IA. Born about 1822 Holland.

D. J. Klumpert died Sunday night at eight thirty. He resided one and one half miles east of Hospers and was aged eighty- four years. He located there thirty-four years ago when white inhabitants were few and far between. Seventeen years ago he married the widow Wierda who survives him, Jelle Wierda the section man who died at Hospers last week was her son. The Klumpert funeral was held Wednesday from the Presbyterian church (in Hospers) Rev. Mouw officiating. Dolph Wierda and wife of Springfield South Dakota were present at the funeral.

Mrs. Fieke Klumpert (born Apr 1828) is seeking separate maintenance from her husband D. J. Klumpert, They live a mile east of town. He is close to ninety years and she almost as old. She is his second wife, his first family never having come to this country. She complains of insufficient support and abuse. When she was married to Mr. Klompert she was a Mrs. Wierda and has several children.

Note: There was a Derk Jan Klumpert born 8 Jan 1822 at Voorst Gelderland Netherlands to Jan Klumpert and Geertruij Kolkman. The 1900 census of Floyd township Sioux county confirmed that it was Derk Jan Klumpert born Jan 1822 who was living in Hospers in 1900, his wife was Fieke, former Mrs. Wierda born Apr 1828. This also confirms finding Derk’s Netherlands family of whom he was divorced in the 1880 Sioux county census. Also confirms his first marriage Derk Jan Klumpert 29 married Jantje De Groot age 38 at Voorst 10 May 1851, then his second marriage, Derk Jan Klumpert 45 married Maria Franken 42 at
Voorst 23 Feb 1867. Therefore Mrs. Wierda was his third marriage.
