The little 2 year old, John Sylvester, son of Ed and Mary (Scanlon) Lynott was burned to death December 19, The little one with his brother was playing in the oil house in the Northwestern yards when they set fire to some waste and quickly the place became enveloped in flames. The older child escaped and called to the little fellow to follow but too late and in a moment all chances of rescue had vanished.

He was the first John Sylvester Lynott, but he died so he had a brother born later who was also named John Sylvester Lynott.
