Mrs. Ellen Lynch, pioneer resident of Maurice, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.J. Cassidy, 4415 Springfield Street, Sioux City, early Tuesday, July 15. At the age of 83 she became ill after a stroke of paralysis on the preceding Thursday eve and died several days later.

Funeral services were held at 9 o’clock Thursday morning. Reverend James B. Greteman officiating at the Requiem High Mass. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Maurice.

Mrs. Lynch was born in New Jersey, June 1, 1852 and as a child came to Clayton County, Iowa with her parents. For the past 52 years she has resided in Maurice.

She wedded John Lynch, a Civil War veteran, who died in 1908. To this union were born two daughters, Elizabeth, who succumbed from consumption in 1924, and Kathryn, now Mrs. R.J. Cassidy.

Her many friends will miss the kind deeds which so frequently bestowed upon those who valued her companionship. Her fellow Altar Society members will miss her absence from the meetings she so seldom missed.

Surviving are her one daughter; three sisters, Mrs. Mary A. Lynch of Sunnyside, Washington; Mrs. Hugh McDonald and Miss Nora Buckley of Maurice and one brother Dan Buckley of Maurice.
