Mrs. Carol Van Donslear, age 69, of Archer, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at the Orange City Area Health System.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, February 21, at 11:00am, at the Archer Reformed Church. The Rev. Matthew Lee will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Greenwood Cemetery at Matlock. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday, at 9:15am, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers.

Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the funeral home.

Carol Ann was born on April 6, 1948, in Sheldon, the daughter of Virgil and Viola (Keizer) Menning. She was raised in rural Archer and graduated from the Sheldon High School.

On September 15, 1967, she married Larry Wayne Van Donslear in Archer. With Larry serving in the military, they lived in various communities across the United States. In April of 1995, they returned to Iowa and settled in Archer.

Carol was a homemaker and for twenty years also worked as an Independent Kitchen Consultant for the Pampered Chef.

She was a member of the Archer Reformed Church, where she and Larry were youth sponsors and she participated in the women’s organizations.

Carol enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, sewing, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of more than fifty years, Larry; a son and his wife, Scott and Barbara Van Donslear, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two grandsons, Max and Miles Van Donslear; her mother, Viola Menning, of Sheldon; and a sister, Susan Mouw, of Sheldon.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Diana Meendering.

Memorials may be directed to the Orange City Area Home Health and Hospice.
