Note: Wife of John Hartsig born 15 Dec 1848 MI died 16 Sep 1916 Detroit MI. wife Sophia Christine Sierging 1849. Children Ida 1876, Edwin 1878, Clarence 1885. In 1885 the family was living in Sioux county IA. In the 1885 census of Center, Sioux Co. IA John Hartsig born about 1849, wife Charstene born about 1849 Germany, children Ida 8 and Edwin 6.

It appears the family lived in the area a short time and left for MI shortly after her death. In 1886 John married in Warren MI to Ida Scharnberg.
