From the Alton Democrat, March 23, 1928, Boyden news:

Dr. Brink received word Sunday [March 18] at Granville, of the death of Frank Connel[sic] of Arnolds Park from a chronic case of hernia, from which he had suffered many years. Mr. Connel was one of the early pioneers of this section and will be remembered by many still living here. Owing to the fact that some of his children are living at a great distance, no funeral arrangements had been announced at this writing (Monday).

F. D. CONNELL OF ARNOLDS PARK DIED AT SPENCER HOSPITAL

Frank Daniel Connell was born at Janesville, Wis., Aug. 27, 1956 and passed away in the Spencer hospital, March 18, 1928, aged 72 years, 6 months and 20 days.

He came with his parents to Mason City, Iowa, when 5 years of age, and when a young man took a homestead in Sioux county, near Boyden, and with the exception of four years in Minnesota, remained there all his life until he came to Arnolds Park in 1919.

He was married to Ida Truex, Feb. 3, 1885. To this union were born five girls and six boys. Minnie, John Riley and Lillian preceded him in early childhood, while Wm. of George, Iowa, Geo. Lewis, Frank and Rouley, Mrs. Ray Butler, Dora and Mrs. Howard Mead remain to mourn his loss together with the wife. One brother, Charlie of Alexandria, and four nephews and nieces.

Mr. Connell seemed to spend his whole life at peace with both men and his God, and in the nine years of his residency at Arnolds Park won many friends who today mourn his passing as the loss of a rarely honest and good natured friend and brother.
