Word was received here Saturday morning of the sudden death of a former Rock Valley resident, William T. Klein of Bellflower, Calif. He was visiting at the home of his sister in Los Angeles at the time of his death. Mr. Klein, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Klein, was born in this community on March 21, 1894. He attended school in Rock Valley and grew to manhood in this vicinity. As a young man, he served in the armed forces on the Mexican border and with the A. E. F. in the European theatre during World War I. After his discharge, he worked in Wyoming and Arizona for a few years and then accepted a position as a driller with the Anglo-Persian Oil Co. on the Persian Gulf. He remained there for six years.
After his return home, he married Elsie Klein, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Klein of Doon and sister of Clarence Klein. They took up residence in Redlands, Calif, where they operated their own motel for several years, after which time he became a motel broker.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Donald Bauer and Mrs. John Christopher of California, nine grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Victor Thill of Timber Lake, S. D.; Mrs. Teresa Pecklink of Los Angeles, Calif, Mrs. Henry Boecker of Oklahoma City, Okla, Mrs. Marie Richter of Rock Valley and one brother, John Klein of Larchwood. Funeral services for Mr. Klein took place in the Catholic church in Bellflower Tuesday morning, June 16.
