From the Alton Democrat, December 30, 1927, Hull news:

Death of Little Baby

The seven months old child, Matthew L., of Rev. and Mrs. Ver Hil of Hull, died December 12 following an operation for telescoped bowel, at Hull. The baby was seven months old on December 11 and was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Rev. Ver Hil is pastor of the Prot. Christian Reformed church at Hull. Besides his parents the baby is survived by a little sister aged three and a half years. Funeral services were held Thursday last at the Protesting [i.e., Protestant?] Christian Ref. church at Hull, conducted by Rev. Vos of Sioux Center and Rev. G. H. Douwstra of Hull. The parents have the heartfelt sympathy of a host of friends.

His death certificate identifies him as Mathew Lenard Ver Hil; born May 11, 1927 in Michigan; parents William Ver Hil, born in the Netherlands, and Sophie De Leeuw, born in New Jersey; died in the Hull Hospital at 7:35 p.m. December 13, 1927, of “intussuscaption (ileococal),” duration four days, preceded by an operation on December 9; buried in Hope Cemetery, Hull. He does not appear in the Sioux County Cemetery Index.
