Death of Isabella Fraser

Mrs. Isabella Fraser passed suddenly away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Brandt, south of Rock Valley, last Wednesday evening, at the advanced age of ninety years, eleven months and twenty-two days.

Mrs. Fraser was born in Scotland. For several years she has made her home with her daughter near Rock Valley. She was in her usual health until the day before her death. She suffered an attack of apoplexy Wednesday morning which caused her death. The remains were taken to Aurelia, Iowa, for funeral services and burial.

Her death certificate has Isabella Fraser, born November [remainder blotted out] in Scotland; parents Robert Maitland and Margaret Enslin[?]; resident of the United States 50 years and of Rock Valley 8 years; died at 9:15 p.m. Nov. 2, 1927 of apoplexy, duration 1 day; buried at Aurelia, Iowa.

FindaGrave.com has Isabella Fraser, born 12 Nov. 1837; died 2 Nov 1927; buried in Diamond Cemetery, Cherokee County, with a photo of her headstone. No family information included.

The 1900 U.S. census for Plato Township, Sioux County, has Isabella Fraser, age 63, born November 1836[sic?] in Scotland, widowed; living with son-in-law Fred C. Brandt, age 35, born in Illinois of German parents, a farmer, his wife Charlotte, age 32, born in Scotland, and three children.

The 1920 U.S. census for Diamond Township, Cherokee County shows Isabella Fraser, age 82, widowed, born in Scotland, immigrated in 1881, not naturalized; living with son-in-law William Cockburn (62), a farmer, and his wife Maggie (60), both born in Scotland, immigrated in 1881, and naturalized in 1887; and their three unmarried children, Annie (31), Chas (29), and Mabel (27)

The 1925 Iowa census for Plato Township shows Charlotte Brandt (55), widow, lived 40 years in the U.S. and Iowa, parents John and Isabella Fraser, born in Scotland; two of her sons, Fred C. (35) and Edward E. (33) Brandt; and her mother, Isabella Fraser (86), widow, parents Robert Maitlund and Margret Patree[?].
