Cornelius Langstraat, formerly of Newkirk, died at Lynden, Washington, while on his way to California to visit. Death occurred on November 14th from heart trouble. Deceased was 59 years, 7 months and 26 days of age at the time of his passing on.

Mr. Langstraat came to Sioux county about 32 years ago and has prospered, three quarter sections of land having been acquired during his lifetime. Industrious, honest and upright, he worked hard during his allotted span of years to merit the respect of his fellow men.

He belonged to the Reformed Church at Newkirk and was a strong pillar in that denomination.

The funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Reverend R. D. Douwstra, from the Newkirk Reformed Church on Monday, November 26, interment taking place at the Newkirk Cemetery.

Mr. Langstraat had retired from farming and about to take life easy after nearly three score years of labor. His death came as a heavy blow to his family and many friends.

He is survived by his life partner, Angelina (Rozeboom) Langstraat and seven children as follows: Will and Henry of Newkirk, Mrs. Anna Boone, Mrs. Minnie Slothouber, Nellie, Gertie and Peter, all of Newkirk and by the following brothers and sisters: Peter Langstraat of Boyden, Henry of North Dakota and Aaltje Langstraat of Pella.

The Democrat joins in tendering sympathy to the sadly bereaved family.
