BEREND LANDMAN SUCCUMBS AT 65, ON DECEMBER 12

Berend “Ben” Landman second oldest son of Ritze Landman and Martje Davids, was born November 17, 1881, at Noutkamp Province, Groningen, Netherlands, and came to the United States in June 1891. They lived in Hull, Iowa, for three months, then moved to a farm on the east side of section 7, Lincoln Township, until the death of his parents.

He then moved with his brother, Lou, to the west side of Section 7 until the spring of 1936. Then Ben and Lou moved to a residence in Doon.

Mr. Landman was taken to the hospital in Le Mars on the evening of December 11 and died early in the morning of December 12, 1946, at the age of 65 years, 25 days. He leaves to mourn his death, two brothers, Lou of Doon, and Koert of Sheldon. He was never married.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 16, at the house, with Reverend W. Hekeman in charge and burial was made at Hull, beside his father and mother.

Pallbearers were August Klein, Ivan Anderson, William Weber, Joe Swenning, P. Hoogland and John Kroon.
