GRANVILLE RESIDENT DIES SUDDENLY

John Lammers passed away at his home in Granville Saturday afternoon at 12:15 o’clock after an attack of heart trouble. Born and brought up in this county, his passing came as a shock to his many friends, as well as to his family, who have the sympathy of all.

He was born January 17, 1887 at Hospers and at the time of his death was 40 years, and 10 months of age. On February 18, 1912 he married Miss Mathilda Thorman of this vicinity. Ten children were born to the union, one dying in infancy. After their marriage they resided for 16 years at Orient, South Dakota, and moved to Granville six years ago.

He is survived by Mrs. Lammers and nine children: Catherine, Helen, Evelyn, Vincent, Mary, Margaret, Monica, Clara and Theresa; by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Helen (Schulte) Lammers; four brothers, Herman and Joseph of Orient, Edward of St. Paul and William of Lismore, Minnesota; and one sister, Anna, also of Lismore. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters for seven years and was secretary of that order. He was a devoted husband and father and a kind neighbor.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning November 21, at nine o’clock in St. Joseph’s Church at Granville where Solemn Requiem Mass was offered. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Reverend J.A. Gerlemann officiated as celebrant. Reverend Illg. Reverend Larhoff, Very Reverend M.A. Schemel as deacon-subdeacon. Pallbearers were Peter Gaul, Ray Muchi, Carl Fischer, Lawrence Spieler, Henry Ricke and Ray Mieb. Out of town relatives and friends here for the last rites included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lammers and Joseph of Orient, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ricker, Mr. and Mrs. Will Path, Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Dickman, all of Lismore, Minnesota.
