Mrs. Dick "Dirk" La Fleur, 65, passed away at the home of her children, Mr. and Mrs. Sipp La Fleur, Saturday April 23, following a seven weeks illness.

Mrs. La Fleur, Effie Vander Tuig, was born in Friesland, The Netherlands on March 28, 1873. She came to America with three sisters, arrived in Patterson, New Jersey in 1891. Later she came to Sioux County and was married to Dick La Fleur. The couple lived for some time in Patterson and in 1902 they came back to Iowa and settled on a farm near Maurice. In 1935 they moved to Orange City and had planned to go back to Patterson this spring but were prevented by her illness.

She is survived by her husband and the following children: Sipp at Orange City; Gerrit, Patterson, New Jersey; William of Crookston, Minnesota; Mrs. Henry Bremer, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Mrs. P. De Jager, Orange City; Mike of Bellflower, California, Albert of Patterson, New Jersey, Mrs. Sam Plowman, Crookston, Minnesota and Ernest, Patterson, New Jersey.

Other survivors are two brothers Mike Vander Tuig of Sheldon, Nick Vander Tuig of Ireton, three sisters, Mrs. Fred Van Schepen of Ireton, Mrs. J. Kleinsma and Mrs. J. Faber of Patterson. She is also survived by several grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Sipp La Fleur home and at 2 o’clock at the First Christian Reformed Church with Reverends R. Bronkerna and J.M. Dykstra of Sioux Center officiating. Interment was made in the Orange City Cemetery.
