ALFRED ARONSON PASSED AWAY LAST THURSDAY--WAS 69 YEARS OF AGE AND A LONG TIME RESIDENT OF HAWARDEN--LEAVES ONE STEP-DAUGHTER

Alfred Aronson, a long time and highly respected resident of Hawarden, passed away very unexpectedly at about 1:30 last Thursday afternoon at his home in this city from heart trouble. Mr. Aronson was taken ill while visiting at the home of his sister in Sioux City the fore part of this week but had been able to return home on Wednesday and was outdoors last Thursday afternoon, so that his death came as a shock to the citizens of this community.

Funeral services were held at the Associated Church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with the pastor, Reverend R.J. Cornell, in charge. Burial was in the cemetery at Big Springs in a grave beside his wife. Reverend B.L. Carlton, pastor of Big Springs Baptist Church assisted at the burial service.

Alfred Aronson was born in Viby, province of Socken, Sweden, on July 14, 1862, and died in Hawarden October 15, 1931, at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 1 day. He received his education in Sweden and when about 19 years of age came to the United States of America. This was in the year 1881. He worked as a carpenter for the Milwaukee Railway Company for several years. Later he came to Hawarden and on April 25, 1901, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Hannah Martin. After nearly thirty years of married life which they spent together as residents of this city, Mrs. Aronson entered the Life Eternal on December 2, 1930, a little more than ten months ago.

Mr. Aronson was employed in the A.L. Johnson Store on the North Side for a considerable number of years and later was employed for many years in the J.O. Lind Store in Hawarden. He was well favorably known and had made countless friends by his kindness and courtesy.

Mr. Aronson was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church and had been an elder in the church ever since his first election on March 28, 1919. He had been an active and loyal member of the Associated Church since the Presbyterian Church became a part thereof eleven years.

Mr. Aronson is survived by a step-daughter, Miss Clara Martin of Hawarden; a sister, Mrs. A.L. Johnson of Sioux City; a brother, Oscar F. Aronson and a brother in Sweden. A sister Mrs. Fred Peterson, who lived near Akron, died about twenty-five years ago. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to the relatives there are many, many friends who deeply regret Mr. Aronson’s sudden death.
