karen Janvrin, 76 of Panora, IA died Monday March 20, 2017 in Des Moines. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sat. April 1 at Faith Bible Church in Panora.

Karen, daughter of Edwin and Louise (Gayer) Heuer was born April 19, 1940 in Sioux County. She raised ponies as a child and rode them to country school. After graduating from Sioux Center High School and Augustana University in Sioux Falls, she taught elementary school at Paullina and Sutherland for a few years.

Working as a lifeguard, she met her future husband Ken Janvrin. They were married at Peace Lutheran Church on Aug. 18, 1962 in rural Sioux Center. They then made their home in Panora, IA.

She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their many activities over the years.

During the two days of decathlon competition, she would provide her "special lemonade" and plenty of food to feed the decathlon entourage.
Karen enjoyed traveling with family to fish in northern MN for many years. She also enjoyed water skiing, bowling, playing bridge, gardening, canning, and watching TV game shows. She was a member of Faith Bible Church.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Kristi (Kent) Muyskens of Yale; a son, Kip (Teresa) Janvrin of Warrensburg, MO. and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy, and two brothers, Brian and Jackie.
