The South Dakota Death Index 1879-1955 on Ancestry.com has James F. Fitzpatrick, died 20 Aug 1926 in Lake County, SD.

FindaGrave.com has James Leo Fitzpatrick Sr., born 1835 in County Cork, Ireland, died 1926 in Madison, Lake County, South Dakota, buried Saint Thomas Cemetery, Madison. It includes unattributed biographical data, saying that he came to America in 1854 at age 19 during the potato famine, went to the Klondike in search of gold [transcriber’s note: it seems very unlikely that he went to the Klondike, more likely to Montana] but returned and settled in Littleport, Clayton County, Iowa. Married Mary Ellen Linnane October 9, 1869 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Elkador, Clayton County, Iowa, when he was 34 and she was 16. She had immigrated from Ireland to Littleport with her parents in 1866. About 1885 James, Mary Ellen, and their four daughters – Bridget, Jane, Catherine, and Margaret – came west to Maurice, Iowa with a team and wagon and a cow, and bought a quarter section of land two miles west and four miles north of Rock Valley, where they farmed until moving to Madison, S.D. in 1910. It gives family names and ages from various censuses. Parents, Matthew Fitzpatrick (1805-unknown) and Bridget Fitzpatrick (1803-1893). Siblings, Patrick Fitzpatrick (1826-1910) and Dennis Fitzpatrick (1839-unknown). Spouse, Mary Ellen Linnane Fitzpatrick (1852-1933). Children: Mary Ellen Fitzpatrick (1869-1880), Bridget Ann Fitzpatrick (1871-1944), Jane Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Hevern (1873-1961), Catherine Theresa Fitzpatrick Hevern (1875-1902), Margaret Irene Fitzpatrick Solon (1877-1946), Ann Fitzpatrick (1879-1880), John Fitzpatrick (1881-1882), Michael J.
