YOUNG MAN DIES AFTER SHORT ILLNESS

John Kooima passed away at the hospital at Hull at 12:45 o'clock Saturday morning following a week's illness. He was taken to hospital on Friday, July 19, suffering from an attack of appendicitis. An operation was performed at once, but his condition was such that other complications developed and he failed rapidly until the end came.

John Kooima was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake and Fannie (Hoekstra) Kooima, who reside near Rock Valley. He was twenty-two years , four months and ten days old. He was born March 17, 1907, and had lived here all his life.

He was a young man of pleasant, genial disposition, and made friends wherever he was known, and his untimely death is very much regretted.

He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Kooima, and five brothers and five sisters, all of the here for funeral services. The children are: Tony, of Seattle, Washington, Simon, Charles, Gerrit and Thomas, all at home, Mrs. Gerrit Van Laar, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mrs. John Meendering, Mrs. Robert Jacobsma, Mrs. Joe De Wit, all of this vicinity, and Rose, at home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the home at one o'clock and at the Christian Reformed Church at two o'clock. Reverend J. Gritter having charge of the services. The remains were taken to Valley View Cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sincere sympathy of many friends.
