Mrs. Mary Van Den Berg, age 96, of Sioux Center, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a memorial service by the family at a later date.

The Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City is assisting the family.

Mary Edna was born on July 22, 1921, at Le Mars, the daughter of Joe and Edna (Ivey) Overman. She was raised in Le Mars, where she graduated from the Le Mars High School.

On June 1, 1946, she married Gary Van Den Berg in Le Mars. They made their home in Sioux Center, where she worked as a clerk for Roelofs Store for 34 years, along with being a homemaker. Gary passed away on December 6, 2000.

Mrs. Van Den Berg was a member of the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. She participated in Ladies Circle and the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping with her family.

Survivors include her son-in-law, Jerry Mars, of Orange City; two granddaughters and their husbands, Becky and Kirk “Maazy” Maasdam and Stephanie and Jason Pottebaum, all of Orange City; and five great-grandchildren, Josie Maasdam, Levi Maasdam, Dylan Maasdam, Brody Pottebaum and Blake Pottebaum, all of Orange City.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandie Mars; three brothers, Rich Overman, Clyde Overman, and Harold Overman; and a sister, Helen Mallette.
