Mr. Hubert Schuller, age 92, of Orange City, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, December 8, at 10:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. The Rev. Mark Vande Zande and the Rev. Timothy Ouwinga will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Friday, at 9:15am, at the church.

Visitation will be after 4:00pm on Thursday, with the family present from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Hubert William was born on June 3, 1925, at Orange City, the son of Hubert and Hattie (Te Grotenhuis) Schuller. He was raised at Orange City, where he graduated from the Christian School.

On June 25, 1957, he married Katherine Pauline Primus in Wellsburg. They made their home at Orange City, where he farmed. He was also the director of the Harmony Youth Home, a member of the Sioux County Board of Supervisors, a bus driver, and a lay preacher. He became a resident of Prairie Ridge in February of 2016.

“Hube” was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, where he served as an elder on the consistory and as a Sunday school teacher. He was a faithful volunteer at the Sioux City Gospel Mission for over fifty years and also participated in the Sioux County Jail Ministry. In addition, he served on the board of directors of the Unity Christian High School in Orange City.

He enjoyed singing, providing special music at many funerals, and visiting with residents of numerous nursing homes.

Survivors include his wife of more than sixty years, “Kathy”; a daughter and her husband, Rachel and Alan Krull, of Alton; three sons and their wives, Darrell and Cindy Schuller and Douglas and Audrey Schuller, all of Orange City; and Daniel and Cori Schuller, of Dubuque; eight grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stillborn son, David Brent Schuller; eight siblings, Bill Nibbelink, James Nibbelink, Gerrit Nibbelink, Marie Rowenhorst, Dena Haarsma, John Schuller, Albert Schuller, and Ada Schuller, and their spouses.

Memorials may be directed to the Sioux City Gospel Mission and the Gideons.
