Henry Koele was born January 26, 1854 at Masterbroek, Provence of Overeisel, The Netherlands. On April 10, 1879 he was married to Miss Jennie VanDalfsen and in April 1886 they came to America, living first at Hospers for 9 years, then at Rock Valley for 3 years, balance of the time in Hull and vicinity.

Mr. Koele is survived by his wife and eleven children all of whom are living, eight boys and three girls all of whom are married; namely Nick Koele and family of Hull, Dick Koele and family of Perkins, Egbert Koele and family of Hull, Jake Koele and family of George, Hank Koele and family of Hull, Kees Koele and family of Sheldon, Mrs. Will Faas and family of Sanborn, Mrs. John Gunnink and family of Hull, John Koele and family of Hull, Mrs. G. J. Leusink and family of Matlock and Henry Koele and family of Hull. There are thirty-four grandchildren.

Mr. Koele suffered his first stroke of paralysis four or five years ago, the second, from which he never regained consciousness, occurred Tuesday morning October 5th. He died early Thursday morning October 7th.

The funeral was held last Saturday from the family home and from the First Reformed Church, Reverend Kregel officiating, the eight sons acting as pall bearers.

The church was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends and it was the largest funerals ever held here.
