Relatives in Hull received the sad news that Mr. Jake Koele of Matlock passed away suddenly of a heart attack, Sunday forenoon.

He had attended the church service, came home and had a cup of coffee and died a few minutes later. He had reached the age of 49 years.

He was the son of the late Case Koele. His mother is Mrs. John Van Zee of Sanborn.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Koele on May 5, 1931. To this union three daughters were born. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Hartley, Iowa area. In 1955, they moved to Matlock, Iowa, where they owned and operated the Matlock Grocery Store and he was the U.S. postmaster.

The funeral service was held Wednesday August 2nd, from the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon, and the Matlock Reformed Church.
