Ada Terpstra was born on February 1, 1922 to Jake and Flora (De Young) Terpstra in Okaton, South Dakota. As a child she and her family moved to a variety of locations including Martin, South Dakota; Lynden, Washington; Zeeland, Michigan; and Rock Valley, Iowa. Because her family moved often she attended different schools before graduating from the eighth grade in Rock Valley.

As a young woman she moved to Michigan with her parents. Ada became a nurse in Grand Rapids, Michigan and remained there for a few years. She continued her nursing career after a move to Denver, Colorado. She remained in Denver for over 50 years and enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and climate.

In her free time, Ada traveled through much of the western United States during her younger days. Later in life, she could often be found reading, sewing, or solving the Sudoku puzzle in the daily paper. Ada would regularly have a puzzle set out to work on, and also enjoyed coloring inspirational cards and sharing these cards with those who came to visit.

Ada is survived by two brothers, Jake Terpstra of Holland, MI and Pete (Ruth) Terpstra of Zeeland, MI; sister, Agnes Harmelink of Sioux Center, IA; sister-in-law, Ruth Terpstra of Rock Valley, IA; brother-in-law, Jake and Margaret Teunissen of Rock Valley, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dave, John, Harry (Gladys), Agner (Nella), Clarence (Lyda), and Floyd; three sisters, Florence Teunissen and two in infancy; sisters-in-law Madelyn Terpstra, and Carol Terpstra; and brother-in-law, Alvin Harmelink.
