John Klopper 82, passed away at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25. Suffering with arterial sclerosis he was taken to a local hospital 7 weeks ago and 4 weeks later was transferred to a Cherokee hospital, where he died.

He was born at Enkhuizen, the Netherlands in 1864 and came to America when a young man to Muskegon, Michigan, were he was engaged in the lumber business.

He later came to Orange City and was married on March 2, 1893 to Tryntje Groot of Orange City. There are no children. Having farmed in the Orange City vicinity for many years they moved to town 25 years ago.

His wife preceded him in death 8 years ago and since then Mr. Klopper has lived alone. Nephews living in the Netherlands are the only survivors.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the First Reformed Church with Reverend H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
