MRS. KLEINHEKSEL DIES AT ARCHER EASTER SUNDAY

The Archer community was saddened Easter Sunday morning when Mrs. Maggie Kleinheksel passed away at the home of her son, Johnnie, after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Maggie Kleinheksel, nee Zorgdrager, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Neeltje (Zwart) Zorgdrager, was born July 15, 1869 in The Netherlands. She came to America with her parents at the age of 12 and grew to womanhood in the Sheldon vicinity.

In January of 1888 she was united in marriage to John Koolbeck who died April 10, 1895.

In 1900 she married Henry Kleinheksel who died August 13, 1946.

Two of her children preceded her in death, Nellie (Mrs. H.B. Freerks) of Sioux City who passed away in 1950 and Florence who died in infancy.

Survivors include the following children: Jake Koolbeck of Archer, Jeanette (Mrs. John Hodgdon) of Washta, Herman Kleinheksel of Primghar, Cecil of Brookings, South Dakota, Clayton of Waterloo, Clifford of Breckenridge, Minnesota, Johnnie of Archer, Maggie (Mrs. Glenn Ditsworth) of Shawnee, Oklahoma, June (Mrs. Arthur Den Hartog) of Orange City, 28 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ella (Mrs. Jake Duimstra) of Santa Cruz, California, Jennie (Mrs. Ed Brunsting) of Hawarden, two step-brothers, Jason DeWaay of Sheldon and Richard DeWaay of Primghar as well as a host of friends.

Mrs. Kleinheksel spent most of her life in the Hospers and Archer communities and was a life-long member of the American Reformed Church of Archer. She always took an active part in church and civic work and operated successful business in Hospers and Archer. She was Archer correspondent for The Sun and other newspapers in this area for several years.

Funeral services were held April 8 in the Archer Reformed Church with Reverend Peter Yff officiating with interment in Hospers Memorial Cemetery. The Watson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
