His father Newell Harwod born 1851 married 3 Feb 1874 to Lydia L. Lynn in Sioux county IA. On 15 October 1876 he married Mary Jane Steward in Sioux County IA. Newell died 7 Oct 1922 Woodbury Co. IA.

The oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Newell Harwood, of Lincoln township, died last Wednesday night of diptheria. Melvin wao of about the same age as the little son of Morris Stickney, that died of the same disease.
