killed at Boyden

Funeral services for five-year-old Joe Dean Klaassen, fatally injured in a two-car headon collision near Boyden Monday evening, will be at 1:30 Friday at the Boyden Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Marvin Camp will officiate and burial will be in the city cemetery under the direction of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home of Sheldon.

The child, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William and Margaret (Kruger) Klaassen of Boyden, died at a Sheldon hospital after the accident three-quarters of a mile north of Boyden in a heavy rainstorm.

Sergent Lawrence Haze of the Iowa Highway Patrol investigated the crash late Monday. He said there were no visible skid marks made by the cars on the pavement. Visibility was "very poor" because of a heavy rainstorm at the time of crash, he stated.

The Klaassen boy was born October 27, 1959, at Sheldon.
