Born: December 31, 1878
Died: October 17, 1934

Miss Annis Kirkpatrick passed away at 6 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Methodist Hospital in Sioux City where she had been a patient the past two weeks. Miss Kirkpatrick had not been in good health for some time and for the past two months was bedfast. She was taken to Sioux City two weeks ago and a week ago Saturday she submitted to an operation. At that time it was revealed that her condition was such that she could live but a short time and she grew weaker gradually until death claimed her Wednesday morning.

Her remains were brought overland to Hawarden Wednesday and funeral services will be held at the Associated Church at 2:30 Friday afternoon with Reverend T.H. Harding in charge. Burial will be made in the family plot in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Annis Belle Kirkpatrick, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Martha ((McGowen) Kirkpatrick was born at Lone Tree, Iowa, December 31, 1878, and she came to this vicinity with her parents when but four months old. She lived on the home farm in Washington Township with her parents until they retired and moved to Hawarden. For several years after this she looked after the homes for her brothers, William and John Kirkpatrick. In 1927 she came to Hawarden and for seven years she looked after the needs of her aged mother, who passed away July 24, 1934, less than three months ago. After her mother's death her health failed rapidly.

Miss Kirkpatrick possessed a kindly disposition and the needs of others were ever foremost in her mind, even though her own health was failing during her mother's long illness the past year she never failed to give her the tenderest of care. She is survived by two brothers, William and John of Hawarden and one sister, Mrs. Mary Morris of Sioux City. She also leaves two nieces and one nephew in Sioux City.
