Mrs. John W. (Barbara) De Haan, 66, of Orange City, died March 9 at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. March 12, at the American Reformed Church, the Reverend Alvin A. Hook officiating. Eugene Mulder, soloist, offered special music, "God Understands,"and "I Have Found a Hiding Place." Rodney Jiskoot was the organist.
Burial was at the Westlawn Cemetery with the Van Etten Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Donald Freriks, William Schalekamp, Wayland Breese, Franklin De Haan, Arie G. Van Marel, and William Top.
The former Barbara Gorzeman was born July 17, 1903, at Hull, Iowa. On June 24, 1924, she was married at Hull to John W. De Orange City in 1934.
The family lived at Hull, and moved to Orange City in 1934. Her husband was the deputy county clerk for 34 years. He preceded her on death October 18, 1968.
Survivors include: daughters, Mrs. Verlyn Vermeer of Rock Rapids and Mrs. Milton Deets of Amherst, Massachutes; two grand-children; brothers, John and Leonard of Hull; sisters, Mrs. Elisabeth Kersbergen of Rock Valley, Mrs. Jerry Dykstra of Sheldon, and Mrs. Marie Hoekstra of Hull.
