Mr. Eldon De Wild, age 53, of Hull, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2017, in Renton, Washington.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, November 7, at 1:30pm, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Loren Kotman will officiate. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Monday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, at the CHURCH. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Eldon Earl was born on January 2, 1964, in Sioux Center, the son of Lawrence John and Elnora June (Ver Steeg) De Wild. He was raised on a farm near Boyden, where he graduated from the Boyden-Hull High School. He then served in the United States military.

On April 13, 1991, he married LuAnn Van Hofwegen in Hull. They made their home in Hull. He was currently employed at Agropur in Hull.

Mr. De Wild was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where he had been a cadet leader.

He also belonged to the Wegman-Koele American Legion Post in Hull. He began a twenty-year career of serving his country in the Sheldon Army National Guard. He then transferred to the United States Air Force, and returned to the Sheldon Army National Guard for his last few years of service. He also served one year in Iraq.

Eldon enjoyed fishing, gardening, and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of more than 26 years; 2 sons, Matt De Wild, of Hull; and Joshua De Wild, and his dog Duke, of Chamberlain, South Dakota; four sisters and three brothers and their spouses, Ardis and Earl Bonestroo, of Sheldon; Arlyn and Donna De Wild, of Hull; Lonna and Merlyn Smeenk, of Harrisburg, South Dakota; Denice and Gary Brunsting, of Centennial, Colorado; Coral and Bill Moulder, of Lakewood, Washington; Jarvis and Shari De Wild, of Hull; and Laryl and Brenda De Wild, of Boyden; a brother-in-law, Verlyn Nyhuis, of Rock Rapids; and many nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara, and her husband, Larry Lyells; and Carleen Nyhuis; and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Foreman.

Memorials may be directed to the church for mission trips.
