AN OLD SETTLER GONE

John P. Kersey, a resident of Virginia Township in Union County, and well known in this vicinity died very suddenly Saturday evening. While unloading corn from a wagon his little boy, who was standing near, observed him stagger and fall from the wagon to the ground and when picked up he was found dead. The cause of death is unknown.

The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Virginia Township Tuesday afternoon, Reverend Phillips, of Alcester, officiating. The remains were brought to this city for interment.

Mr. Kersey had been a resident of Union County for 14 years and was highly respected by all who knew him. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the wife, Sarah Kersey; two adopted children, and a brother, who are left to mourn his loss.
