Mr. David Duistermars, age 86, of Orange City, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017, at the Orange City Area Health System.

There will be a memorial service on Monday, October 30, at 3:00pm, at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City. The Revs. John Klompien and Aldon Kuiper will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a family prayer service on Monday at 2:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City.

Visitation will be after 1:30pm on Sunday, with the family present from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, at the funeral home.

David Darlow was born on August 13, 1931, at Orange City, the son of Richard and Lyda (Rowenhorst) Duistermars. He was raised on farms in the Orange City area and graduated from the Newkirk High School. He then attended one year at the Northwestern Junior College in Orange City. He also served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict.

On December 27, 1952, he married Marvella Joan Huisman at the First Reformed Church in Orange City. They lived on a farm south of Carnes for a few years before settling on a farm north of Orange City. For over 40 years he thanked God for having the privilege of farming the land and having a job he loved dearly.

“Dave” was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church, the Pressman-Kosters American Legion Post, and the Lions Club, all in Orange City. He was also on several boards of directors in the community. He also enjoyed riding horses and was a member of the Saber Saddle Club.

Survivors include his wife of more than 64 years; a daughter and her husband, Shawn and Evan Peuse, of Hudsonville, Michigan; two sons, Dan Duistermars, and his wife, Terri, and Todd Duistermars, all of Orange City; six grandchildren, Erron and Trisha Peuse, of Holt, Michigan; Emily and Josh Benton, of Frankfort, Kentucky; Allison and Franklin Rojas, of Honduras; and Danielle Duistermars, Darbi Duistermars, and Davis Duistermars, all of Orange City; seven great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Verle and Connie Duistermars, of Orange City; and two sisters-in-law, Hazel Prather, of Sun City, Arizona, and Sharon Corrigan, of Salem, Massachusetts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, John Prather, Jr. and Don Corrigan.

Memorials may be directed to the Rehoboth Christian School in New Mexico.
