Carl Harriman Dies in Florida Funeral at Alton Monday Alton residents were sadly shocked
by news of the death Jan. 19 at Mound Park Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida, of Carl Harriman, 61, following a heart attack. Owner of the Alton Drive-In and former owner for many years of the Palace Theatre, Mr. Harriman had warm friends all over Northwest Iowa.

He came to Alton in 1941 and became owner of the market and lockers here, later purchasing the Palace Theatre. For several years Mr. and Mrs. Harriman have spent the winters in Florida and were residents at Rainbow Trailer Court.

Survivors include his wife the former Genevieve McGuire of Rock Rapids Iowa: one daughter: Mrs. Gerald Breaman, Sioux City, Iowa; two sons: James L. Harriman of Sioux City; John C. Harriman of Alton; f four brothers: Dr. Louis A. Harriman, Chicago, IL.; Dr. Henry E. Harriman, Birmingham, Ala.; William D. Harriman, Albert Lea, Minn.; Ralph L. Harriman, Harrisburg, Penn.; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, Jan. 24Ui, at St. Mary's Parish Center, conducted by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Reising. B urial was in St. Mary's cemetery. A memorial fund is being established for equipment for the Parish Center. Present from a distance for the funeral were Mrs. Paul G. Mc Kenna. Clearwater, Fla.; Dr. and Mrs. Henry Harriman, Birmingham, Ala.; Ralph Harriman, Harrisburg. Penn.; George Yarchek, Decatur, Ala.; Messrs. And Mesdames - „Wm. Harriman and Bob Harriman, Albert Lea, and Paul De Marce of Atlantic, Iowa. Carl Long, Sr., Corwfish, Iowa; Carl Long Jr., Ida Grove: Messrs. and Mesdames Gene De Marce, Red Oak: Andrew Faber, Wal nut Grove, Minn.; Marvin Sinclair, Nick Roacb Jr. and Mr. John Vogel all of Rock Rapids. Alton business places were closed during the funeral is a mark of respect for Mr. Harriman, and of sympathy for the family.
