Helen Keough, the little nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Keough of Maurice, died in a Le Mars Hospital Sunday afternoon following an operation which she underwent a short time before.

She was injured in a runaway accident about a month ago. One of her injuries was a fractured thigh and it was finally deemed necessary to amputate the limb but her strength had been sapped that she could not withstand the ordeal.

Sunday evening the whole community was shocked by the news that Helen Keough, little nine-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Keough, had passed away. Some time ago the little girl's leg was broken in a runaway. It was not doing as well as was expected so she was taken to LeMars to have an operation performed on it and, though the operation was not thought to be serious, she died from the effects of it. Helen was a very sweet child, loved by every one that knew her and she will be greatly missed by her parents, brother, sister and friends. The funeral was held in St. Mary's church Tuesday morning in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. The sermon, preached by Father Conway, although short, was filled with beautiful thoughts and very impressive. Pall bearers were Misses Francis and Loretta Dougherty, Misses Mary and Margaret Linnan, Miss Margaret McDonald and Miss Jesamine Buckley. Those who survive her are her parents, a brother Glenn and a sister Mary, who have our greatest sympathy.
