George J. Kellen, 82, of Alton died at his home Friday.

Services were held Monday at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. The Reverend David Hogan, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mr. Kellen was born April 17, 1902 at Granville where he was raised and educated. He married Martha Schneider May 28, 1928 at Alton. The couple farmed in the Granville and Alton areas until retirement in 1960 when they moved to town.

Mr. Kellen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Rosary Sodality, the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Le Mars and for 25 years a director of the Alton Savings Bank.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mrs. Robert (Glenis) Kellen of Alton, Mrs. Alan (Kay) Fisch of Osage Beach, Missouri, Mrs. David (Janet) Allison of Santee, California; a brother, Edwin Kellen of Mesa, Arizona; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kellen (Elizabeth Martin); two brothers, Otto and Henry; three sisters, Mrs. Mick (Tillie) Henrich, Mrs. Al (Jennie) Staab and Miss Laura Kellen.
